Position Description

This internship focuses on our offsite programming with opportunities for experience working alongside Carter staff in the writing and facilitation of K-12 community outreach education programs at several locations, and with various community partners, throughout the city of Fort Worth.

Internship Experiences

General Intern Experiences

  • Learn about day-to-day functions of an education team within an art museum setting including planning, scheduling, and implementing programming
  • Learn about cross-departmental collaborations and experiences by attending various meetings
  • Learn about cross-departmental collaborations and experiences by attending various meetings
  • Learn about program evaluation from our Visitor Experience Manager
  • Learn about and potentially assist with other Education team initiatives such as gallery teaching, adult programming, family programming, and museum interpretation and accessibility

K-12 Programs

  • Research and collaboratively brainstorm ideas for community teaching programs
  • Collaborate with Carter staff and Carter Community Artists to design unique experiences for community camp programs
  • Observe and assist with the planning and facilitation of offsite community teaching
  • Observe a variety of teaching styles

Potential Independent Projects

  • Research and create an original after school program that can be used in future school years
  • Research and create an original thematic community outreach program experience (this could be a community partner program or one activity for a community event or festival) that can be used in the future
  • Research and present a session for our team of educators on a topic related to pedagogy, theory or DEAI such as Critical Race Theory, Intersectionality, Assemblage, Critical Multiculturalism, or Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy.

Qualifications

Qualifications/Education

  • Currently enrolled in college courses pursuing a degree in art history, art education, museum studies or related field.
  • Punctual and Reliable
  • Must be able to dedicate the required time based on college expectation (typically 150 hours)

  • Must successfully complete and MVR, background, and pre-employment drug screen.

Pay per hour is $16
