The Tarrant County Education Foundation (TCEF), a nonprofit scholarship organization, proudly announces the completion of the Giant Water Bottle Sculpture Project. Conceptualized by artist and perceptual engineer Willie Cole, this "artcycle" sculpture engaged over 1,000 students, volunteers, and members of the Fort Worth art community in a collective effort. TCEF President, Dr. Arlene Barnett stated, “The Giant Water Bottle Sculpture Project highlights a unique approach to combining art and college aspirations. This hands-on STEM-focused project exposed students to environmental S.T.E.A.M. scholarships and raised awareness about environmental stewardship.” The success of this collaborative community project would not have been possible without the generosity of the Arts Fort Worth Community Arts Center Staff, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and the UNT Health Science Center. The project boasts student participation from IM Terrell STEM VPA, Young Men Leadership Academy, Young Women Leadership Academy, TCC South/FWISD Collegiate High School, Bill R. Johnson Career and Technical Education School, Cristo Rey Fort Worth College Preparatory, Texas Wesleyan University, and Texas Christian University. The exhibit showcases the giant water bottle sculpture alongside photographs depicting the students at work. It will remain open through March 31, 2024, providing an opportunity for the public to appreciate this unique blend of art and environmental consciousness.
